"This tiny little place took me back to all the good things about my trip to Costa Rica two years ago. First, the food is amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The vegetarian selection is so impressive. I even took food to take with for my dinner that day. I recommend the vegetarian salad, casado, and patacones. As for the service, everything runs on Costa Rican time, so leave your American anxiety behind, relax, and immerse yourself in an authentic Costa Rican experience." |

"This is great little place that has some wonderfully authentic Costa Rican food. It is family owned and run which just adds to the draw. The food is amazing and for the price, one of the better deals in the city. It is BYOB, too! Go for yucca with garlic and the chicken casado with gallo pinto, PURA VIDA!!!" |

I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

Chips and Guac appetizer (Spicy)
Casado - Pollo (house special - Chicken) w/ Gallo Pinto
Veggie Burrito + Mushrooms + Hot Peppers
Steak Sandwich + Hot peppers
Oatmeal Shake

"My boyfriend and I live for Irazu. The traditional dish, the casado, is unbelievable in its blend of flavors. Not only that but its the best bang for your dollar as you have left overs for at least two days! We go there just for their shakes, Oatmeal only! It sounds weird but it will be the best thing you've ever tried. Highly recommend it for guests, but get there early. Always a wait but worth it!

"I have been to Costa Rica many times and this is as good as home cooking in Costa Rica. Food is awesome and the service is good. On a summer day you would think you are in a Costa Rican restaurant. Try the plantains and a oatmeal shake." |

This is one of THE best restaurants in Chicago. Their sandwiches are too die for and their shakes are so tasty. But I've had their other dishes too, like their steak dinner and burritos. The food will not disappoint. Service is friendly and family-style. I like the small location, it gives it atmosphere and coziness. Nothing to change here except I wish I ate here more often." |

"Irazu has been one of my favorite restaurants in the city since the first time I've been there. The prices are extremely reasonable, and it's BYOB which is always nice. Try the traditional Costa Rican meals, such as gallo pinto with eggs and plantains. Their sandwiches and burritos are extremely good as well. They also have great fruit shakes, and their oatmal shake is a specialty. Casual, pretty small place, it's usualy busy. Cash only." |
